Specializing in adventure travel in Greece, Grand Angle has crafted an itinerary that immerses you in the authentic heart of the Aegean Sea. This journey is a genuine discovery of the Western Cyclades, moving at the rhythm of the ferries and your footsteps. It's an invitation to explore three islands with distinct characters through a series of remarkable walking tours in Greece.
The adventure begins on Sifnos, an island that surprises with its green, cultivated valleys winding between rugged peaks. Its well-maintained network of trails connects traditional villages and over 300 chapels, offering a different perspective on the Cyclades. The journey then continues to the volcanic islands of Milos and Kimolos. Here, the landscape transforms dramatically. Milos captivates with its colorful coastline, where coastal paths weave between unique volcanic rock formations and sedimentary layers. Neighboring Kimolos, more discreet, offers walks through forgotten valleys and along a shoreline dotted with beaches perfect for swimming breaks.
As a guided tour in Greece, this trip allows you to fully appreciate the richness of these islands. Led by an expert guide, you will discover shepherds'trails, enjoy meals on tavern terraces, and experience the warm local hospitality, all while we manage the logistical details for a seamless island-hopping experience.
Arrival to Athens airport. Transfer to the hotel (included, around 40 min). Check-in at your hotel in Piraeus. You will meet your guide at 6PM and have an orientation meeting for your trip before going out for dinner as a group.
From Piraeus, we take a ferry to Sifnos (about 2.5 hours). This is one of the most attractive islands in the Cyclades for hiking: magnificent itineraries link traditional villages to perched churches (Sifnos has 370 churches and chapels), high above superb coastal scenery. Settle in Kamares, opposite a pretty beach, for 4 nights. After a swim and a picnic on the beach, we set off on our first hike. Transfer to Kastro (approx. 15 minutes). From Kastro, a beautiful path takes us south to the village of Faros and its pretty harbour. Further on is the monastery of Panagia Chryssopigi, built on a spit of land jutting out into the sea. Transfer back to Kamares (approx. 20 minutes). Option to continue inland to Apollonia along the irrigation channels to the monastery of Vryssi and the village of Exampela, birthplace of the famous chef and cookery writer of the first half of the 20th century, Nikolaos Tselementes.
Short hike: about 2.5 hours of walking, 6km/3.7mi, +195m/640ft, -210m/690ft. Daypack to carry.
Long hike: about 4 hours of walking, 12km/7.5mi, +465m/1525ft, -285m/935ft. Daypack to carry.

After a short transfer to Apollonia, head south (about 10 minutes) along a route dotted with countless chapels to Katavati before climbing Mount Profitis Ilias, the highest point on the island (682m/2238ft), with its imposing 12th-century monastery. Descend to Vougnous cave and the springs of Kalamitsi before arriving in Vathy bay. Return to Kamares (about 25 minutes).
About 5 hours of walking, 10km/6.2mi, +470m/1540ft, -660m/2165ft. Daypack to carry.
Short transfer to the village of Apollonia (about 15 minutes); beautiful paths lead us to Artemónas and its cobbled streets lined with bougainvillea, then to the famous chapel of Panaghia Poulati, high above the sea. We continue along the coast to Kastro, the island's ancient, fortified capital overlooking the sea. Typical narrow streets crisscross the village, adding to the charm of this lovely town. After climbing back up to Kato Petali, we’ll return to Apollonia. Return to Kamares (about 15 minutes).
About 3.5 to 4 hours of walking, 9.7km/6mi, +250m/820ft, -250m/820ft. Daypack to carry.
Transfer to Platis Gialos (about 20 minutes). This is a beautiful loop hike with changing scenery throughout the day. Among the olive trees, you'll come across the pretty abandoned farm of Moussia. A little further on, the sea reappears, but it's the colors of the volcanic rocks that really catch the eye. Also from here, our view of the small islet of Kitriani reveals a small chapel, the oldest on Sifnos! This beautiful stage ends at Platys Gialos with a pleasant descent offering a magnificent view of the bay. We'll take time to swim and enjoy this superb beach. Transfer back to Kamares (about 20 minutes).
About 4 hours of walking, 11km/6.8mi, +435m/1430ft, -435m/1430ft. Daypack to carry.
After breakfast we leave Sifnos (about 30-50 minutes by ferry) for the island of Milos. Check into the hotel in Adamantas for two nights. Transfer to the outskirts of Fylakopi (approx. 15 minutes), to the starting point for the hike. We then follow the coast through sumptuous landscapes combining volcanic and sedimentary rock to Sarakiniko, passing the Papafranga chasm with its transparent waters, and the small natural harbours of Pachena and Mytakas before the picturesque port of Mandrakia. Boat timetables between the two islands are subject to change depending on the season and the weather.
About 4 to 4.5 hours of walking, 8.1km/5mi, +220m/720ft, -220m/720ft. Daypack to carry.
Today starts with a private transfer to Pollonia (about 15 minutes) then a short ferry ride (about 20-30 minutes) to Psathi, the port on the neighboring island of Kimolos, a superb volcanic island. You start this epic hike towards Chorio, the main town with its mills lined up on the Ksaplovouni ridge. Then we

Swimming
Several of our trips are suitable for swimming, either during a stage or at the end of the day. It would be a shame not to take advantage of it in the right season. We want to highlight that you are the ultimate decision-maker regarding whether to swim or not. As such, these swims are entirely your responsibility and undertaken at your own risk.

It is the client’s responsibility to arrive prepared with the items listed below to help insure a safe and enjoyable trip.
The following items are required for this trip unless otherwise noted. When packing, think layered clothing systems that work together and can be easily added or removed.
Important Note: Please, no cotton hiking/cycling clothes. Synthetic clothing is very efficient in drying quickly. Merino wool material clothing is also efficient in drying quickly, is comfortable to wear and has the advantage of not developing a bad odor after use.
After years of experience planning adventure travel around the world, we've learned that anything can happen, and every traveler should carry a basic personal first aid kit. We want to ensure our guests are well-prepared and make smart informed travel decisions. In many of the places we operate trips, it may be challenging to find certain medications and/or first aid supplies, and sometimes common items you desire may not be available in the destination you are travelling. That's why it's good to be prepared and carry a small supply of first aid supplies, any prescription medication, and/or over-the-counter medications you may require during your travels.
We recommend discussing your travel plans, vaccination requirements, and any medication usage with your primary healthcare provider before embarking on our trips. This helps ensure you have a safe and enjoyable travel experience.
During our “Guided” trips, our staff always have emergency equipment on hand to assist anyone in need, including our guests. This equipment includes communication devices and a comprehensive first aid kit with items we've found to be effective for the most common health issues we encounter.
Here is a basic list of what we think makes a good personal travel first aid kit:
PACKING FOR TRAVEL: It is recommended that you prepare your items in the following manner for your travels to this trip.
“Carry-on Bag(s)” - This is the bag you will bring with you on the plane. We recommend all your pertinent information be in this bag (passport, travel documents, etc.) as well as your most important gear items (hiking footwear, jacket, prescription medication, etc.) in case any checked luggage items becomes lost or delayed.
“Checked Bag(s)” - This bag will be checked and contain the rest of your personal items (clothing and gear, etc.).
Important Note: Again, it is recommended to either wear or pack in your “Carry-on Bag” the main gear items you need for this trip vs. putting them in your checked “Travel Bag” (in case luggage is delayed). Hiking footwear is probably the hardest item to replace last minute if items become lost or delayed past the intended start date of the trip. Lost or delayed luggage has become more and more common in major airports for international travel since the global pandemic.
LUGGAGE MANAGEMENT DURING TRIP: During this trip, the packing system needs to be in 2 bags.
Extra Luggage - “Checked Bag(s)” & ”Carry-on Bag(s)”: This bag will contain all the items you want to bring along on the trip. It will be transferred by vehicle for the most part*, and you will have access to it at the end of each day of activity, but not throughout the day.
Important Note: Guests will have to handle/manage all bags personally while boarding all ferries and from the port in Adamantas to the hotel and back in Milos (5 minutes, 350m/1148ft).
Day Backpack (not provided): All guests need a backpack, which they will be responsible for carrying during trip activities. Items in this bag should include anything you may need throughout the day during the trip. (i.e. rain gear, warm layers, water, sunscreen/lip balm, snacks/food, camera/phone, etc.).

Eastern European Time. Eastern European Time (EET) is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). In the summer: Eastern European Summer Time (EEST)
The climate of the islands is Mediterranean, meaning hot and dry in summer and mild and rainy in winter, but with significant differences between regions and archipelagos. The Cyclades regularly suffer from a lack of rain, and during the summer season, which here lasts almost 6 months, there is little or no rainfall from late May to early October. The Cyclades also enjoy relatively cool summers (for Greece) thanks to the famous 'Meltem', a seasonal wind that pleasantly refreshes the atmosphere during the summer months, but which sometimes gets so strong that boats are immobilized in port for a few hours. Winter is generally very pleasant on the island. However, the rain may increase especially between December to February. The air temperature in winter varies on average between (10 and 15°C/50 and 59°F) and the water temperature between (14 and 18°C/57 and 64°F). In spring the weather is milder. The air temperature average varies between (15 and 25°C/59 and 77°F) and the water temperature between (16 and 22°C/61 and 72°F). In summer the sun is at its highest and the air temperature averages (20 and 33°C/68 and 91°F). The water temperature varies between (24 and 26°C/75 and 79°F) on average. Autumn is slightly milder than spring, with average high air temperatures ranging from (23°C/73°F) in September to (15°C/59°F) in November; the water remains warm in September and October (about 22 to 25°C/61 to 77°F).
Greek, some English in tourist areas
Greece is a Member-State of the European Union and uses its uniform currency – the Euro €. Greece, as is the case with the other Member-States of the E.U. uses eight coins as follows: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents or lepta in Greek and 1 and 2 Euros. The banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euros. Currency exchange rates are clearly displayed in every bank that accepts currency exchange, while credit card holders may acquire money from the ATMs of the collaborating banks. Greek banks are open for the public from 8:00 to 14:30 Mondays to Thursdays and from 8:00 to 13:30 on Fridays. They are closed on Public Holidays. Euros can also be exchanged for notes of other foreign currencies at exchange offices that are situated at the airport and certain main ports, in the larger cities, as well as at many tourist destinations. A passport is required when exchanging currencies.
